CRMI Spring Fundrasier - Be a Siege Engineer
CRMI Spring Fundraiser:
Be a Siege Engineer

Teams are sought
for the Charles River Museum of
Industry flood damage fundraising event, a Catapult building
competition.
We are looking for companies to sponsor teams (8 people) to represent
them in a one day challenge to build and fire medieval traction
trebuchets.
The machines will be large, over 10 feet tall, and capable of throwing
a multi pound projectile several hundred feet. When the
construction is finished, we will have a best of three shots
competition for furthest throw.
Win valuable bragging
rights. Help a local technology museum recover from a serious
flood. Leave with a tool that could be useful should you need to
repel a hostile takeover attempt.
All materials and tools will be
provided. The event will be held in the Waltham, MA area, sometime in
the late spring or early summer. The minimum donation
per team entered is $5,000. There will be a limit of 8 teams. The
event will be open to spectators.
The build will be hosted by Jeff Del Papa, siege engine builder and
founder of The NERDS, the first US
team to compete on Junkyard Wars. For more information, contact Elln Hagney or Jeff Del Papa 617 460 6424.
To whet your appetite, below you will find a time lapse video of a group of
teens building the machine, Zuke Voyage, pictured to the right
(shown without its bracing). (120x speedup, 8 hours of building and
hurling in 4 minutes of video)
